Update Aug. 28

I am in the process of reorganizing the Springbrook-Waskasoo Life site as well as upgrading the graphic look. You will be pleasantly surprised I think and I hope to have it online by September 1. The revised site will include a 'features' section on various aspects of the community.

If anyone has any photographs of the community of Springbrook, the old base, aircraft at the airport from 1939 to present or railway photos of the Alberta Central Railway or the CPR from Penhold to Red Deer over the past 100 years, please contact me. I want to put more pictures on the site as well as I'm putting together a rail history of Central Alberta.

In news, the County of Red Deer is showing interest in locating a provincial police college at Springbrook. It's kind of natural in that many of the facilities are already here or close by and is centrally located in the province. The City of Red Deer and Red Deer College have thrown their support behind the County's statement of interest.

The new bar and grill should be open soon.

The hamlet of Springbrook is almost 10 years old. In 1995, the federal government sold the land that included Mynarski Park and CFB Penhold to private developers. The houses were renovated and the first ones went on the market in the fall of that year. The Springbrook Community Association is planning a community birthday party on September 10.

Introduction

This blog will be open for anyone to post information on anything that has to do with the Springbrook-Waskasoo Life website. That includes historical information, upcoming events, news, experiences of living in the area either now or in the past, or anything that might be relevant. I will be adding comments frequently.

As time goes on, I will be adding more information to the site, especially of a historical nature, and will also be upgrading the appearance and organization of the site in time.

The most recent additions to the site include a page on the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, the Calgary and Edmonton Railway, the Alberta Central Railway and a map of the Calgary and Edmonton Trail.
